What Makes a Woman Hot?

I think confidence and class makes a woman hot. You don't have to show all the goods in order to be sexy. Hot women stand up for themselves and have an inner glow that makes them beautiful.

SNL Skit

This video mocked the 2008 election for president. It featured Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin look alikes. The jokes were mildly funny often about Sarah Palin's sudden rise to being a vp cnadidate. In order to understand the contxt of this video you have to be familar with the current race to the White House. You must know about Clinton's primary performance and all the buzz about Sarah Palin.

If I Was a Woman...

If I was a woman I would use my sexuality everyday to get what I want. I would wake up in an apartment were I don't pay any bills. I would wear the most expensive clothes that I got someone to buy for me. I would go to a job where I make way too much money because I'm not really qualified but I have a nice relantionship with my boss so its okay. And I would enjoy a stress-free life.

Going Green

In 2008 we all hear how the earth is heating up and what we need to do to stop this from happening. On TV, on the radio, on the internet, everywhere we are informed about the crisis we are living through and now in the spirit of "going green" UT has banned dinner trays and put up signs to keep us students aware and possibly motivated to do something for the enviroment. This banner right on the pedestrian walkway tells UT to "Make Orange Green". The tone is settle and the motto is catchy. We know orange is symbolic of our campus and green is anything that benefits the earth. We as students are told to put the planet first in everything that we do and since we spend a good majority of our time here on campus this is where we should start. This ad appeals to pathos to get students to fell bad about the condition the earth is in and to act on it. I feel the banner is rhetorically effective because this is the perfect time for awareness, the motto is catchy, and now I want to recycle and ride a bike.

Hey How you doin? I've been good. I'm really enjoying myself in school. Classes are going great! I study often and the work has paid off. This weekend i didnt do much just go to the mall with a few friends and see a movie. Tropic Thunder was playing so we saw it, it was funny. Tell everyone I said hello.

Brain on Drugs PSAs

These two videos are meant to warn children and young teens about the dangers of drug use. They appeal to the same audience just in diffrent time eras. The first video came out in the 80s and was designed for preteens and young teenagers. The second video came out in the 90s and appeals to the same demographic. The message is the same but the tone is very diffrent for these ads. The first ad is more calm while the second ad has more energy and more emotion. You need to know that drugs are bad in order to understand the context of these videos. The purpose of these PSAs is to have young children think twice about drugs and both accomplish this fairly well. Both of these ads do little to appeal to the logos of the audience. The first ad appeals to the pathos of the audience with the sizzling of the egg. The second ad appeals to pathos with the destruction of the kitchen. Last the second ad creates ethos with the inclusion of a celebrity that teens can connect with. The second ad is much more rhetorically effective.

Images from the Closing Ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics

When I look at this picture the first thing I notice is the contrast of colors. There is all yellow in the background and two blue figures in the front. The women in yellow gowns are also positioned very close to each other. The two men in blue are the vocal point of this picture at the very right and create of sense of movement to the left. The massive amount of yellow is also a cultural icon for China as it stands for the Yellow River. The Yellow River is known as the cradle of Chinese civilization.
