Going Green
In 2008 we all hear how the earth is heating up and what we need to do to stop this from happening. On TV, on the radio, on the internet, everywhere we are informed about the crisis we are living through and now in the spirit of "going green" UT has banned dinner trays and put up signs to keep us students aware and possibly motivated to do something for the enviroment. This banner right on the pedestrian walkway tells UT to "Make Orange Green". The tone is settle and the motto is catchy. We know orange is symbolic of our campus and green is anything that benefits the earth. We as students are told to put the planet first in everything that we do and since we spend a good majority of our time here on campus this is where we should start. This ad appeals to pathos to get students to fell bad about the condition the earth is in and to act on it. I feel the banner is rhetorically effective because this is the perfect time for awareness, the motto is catchy, and now I want to recycle and ride a bike.
